Dean Maynard
I launched The Maynard Group in 1991 during high school, initially specializing in telecommunications service and support for the entertainment industry. My first client was rapper Vanilla Ice, who’s endorsement and introductions helped spark the growth of the company.
When starting out in telecommunications I really had no previous telecom experience or background and had to learn from the ground up through trial and error, as well as seeking advice from industry professionals. I was busy, working hands-on with all aspects of the company – technical, sales engineering, support and administration. Over the years The Maynard Group grew, through referrals, marketing and affiliations with various organizations. The business quickly adapted to serve many different types and sizes of clients and my role also began to change, as employees and specialists were brought on board.
Today, I’m still actively searching out the next trend in telecommunications and brainstorming on new technologies to share with clients and coworkers. There’s nothing like working on exciting projects with fellow employees, I love it! I also get a kick out of being part of a successful venture starting with an idea that is realized through the contribution and efforts of dedicated people.
Professionally, I’m also a seminar instructor on Hotel Telecommunications, conduct instructional workshops periodically on small business telecommunications, have provided IP Telephony sales training to companies including AT&T and Ricoh, participated in AT&T West’s advisory council and currently service on the Cisco Small Business Executive Exchange Committee. Off hours, you might spot me DJ’ing a fun party, wreaking havoc on the beach with my three pups or stringing thousands of lights on the house for the holidays for an award winning display – a spectacle not to be missed.
